Meet Our Leadership Team

President and Chief Executive Officer

Andrea Brault, MD, MMM, FACEP

Dr. Brault completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine in 1993 and continued an active clinical practice for over twenty-years. Andrea joined Brault in 1999 to contribute to the family business and scale the management team. In 2004, she was elected President expanding her role to Chief Executive Officer in 2015. She continued her education with a Master of Medical Management degree from the University of Southern California which focuses on the business aspect of medicine from a physician’s perspective.

As the Chair and Board Member of the Emergency Department Practice Medicine Management Association, she is a strong voice for independent practices, advocating for fair physician reimbursement, and is a leader in national policy discussions surrounding the issue of balance billing. She has served as President of California American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Co-Chair of the Reimbursement Committee, as well a member of the Board of Directors. Andrea currently sits on the Reimbursement Committee of ACEP.

Dr. Brault is an industry thought-leader through her frequent speaking, writing and expert testimony. While her industry knowledge is both broad and deep, she has notable expertise in independent physician groups’ practice management and revenue as well as the prudent layperson standard.

She is also an industry philanthropist as a major financial contributor to the Emergency Medicine Action Fund, an advocacy organization working nationwide to secure and improve the rights and opportunities of the independent practice of emergency medicine.

Andrea lives in LaVerne, California with her husband, John. Her adult daughters, Madison, Megan and Jordan, plan to continue the legacy of Brault.

Chairman of the Board

Del Brault

Del was a Systems Engineer with IBM Corporation and has been involved in hospital financial systems since the 1960s, before he began billing for emergency physicians in 1975 as President of Brault Strockman & Company. He has been a long time contributor and resource to ACEP since its early years in Michigan.

Chief Operating Officer

Genise Burgess, RHIT

Genise joined Brault in 2010 to lead chart capture and control operations, insurance verification and nurse coding production. She has over 30-years of acute care experience in Health Information Management (HIM) and Technology as an Executive Consultant, a HIM Director, and an EHR Project Lead. Genise has consistently added to the breadth of her role at Brault including the full-range of revenue cycle management as well as Human Resources.

Prior to joining Brault, Genise worked with numerous large healthcare organizations, implementing EHR solutions, HIM operations, organizational change, team-building, education, training, and process improvement programs.

She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and has served on several national, state and local committees and advisory boards. She is a speaker on HIM topics and currently teaches HIM studies at Westchester School of Nursing and Allied Health, in Los Angeles California.

Genise holds an Associate Degree in business from Los Valley College and a certification as a Registered Health Information Technician from Cypress College.

She lives in Lake Balboa, California and is an avid traveler, art history buff and bible student.

Vice President of Practice Improvement

Jason Adler, MD, FACEP

Dr. Adler joined Brault in 2018 as Vice President of Practice Improvement, after nearly a decade as a practicing physician and executive with a midsize and large physician group.

As part of his leadership role with Brault, he is directly responsible for provider education in documentation , and group practice success. He consults with clients on issues related to provider productivity, malpractice risk mitigation, and hospital relationship management.

Dr. Adler is a board-certified emergency physician, a nationally recognized expert in documentation and reimbursement, and a distinguished author – featured in Becker’s Hospital Review, ACEP Now, EP Monthly, and in the Journal of Emergency Medicine. He has also served multiple terms on the Board of Directors and as Councilor for Maryland ACEP, and has been a Physician Auditor for Medicaid in Maryland.

In addition to his full-time role with Brault, Dr. Adler continues to practice emergency medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center as Clinical Assistant Professor, reviews malpractice claims for the U.S. Army, and is part of the Novitas / Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee.

Vice President of Practice Management

Nancy Dumas

Nancy joined Brault in 2017 to lead our practice management and client service team as a resource to our clients on all matters of group practice formation, governance and business operations.

Prior to joining Brault, Nancy was President of a management services group that provided business services to emergency physicians and free-standing emergency rooms. She directed the operations of the group and oversaw their in-house billing operation. Previous to that, she was Administrator of an emergency physician practice with 120 physicians serving 13 practice sites.

She won the Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA) Founders Award in 2014 as an outstanding contributor to the practice of Emergency Medicine. She is also an avid speaker and past board member at EDPMA.

Nancy studied business at Texas Tech University. She currently resides in Houston, Texas where she spends time with her adult son and enjoys golf, traveling and photography. As a true Texan, Nancy also serves as an investigator on the Safety Committee of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Vice President of Practice Management

Robert Dietz

Robert joined Brault in 2012 to lead practice management and client service of existing Brault clients. His roles focuses on all matters of group practice formation, governance, business operations, and contract retention. He works closely with new clients during start-up to assure that all practice parameters are flawlessly reflected in Brault’s operations. He provides pro-forma reporting of expected net receipts in each month of each start-up reflecting that practice’s changing acuity and payer mix.

Robert formerly worked with a regional emergency physician staffing company for 22-years where he ran their billing operations for 15-years. His final area of leadership was practice site clinical operation improvement efforts, managing patient flow analysis, provider productivity improvement, and financial management. Additionally, he has held positions within the full spectrum of acute care including Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care and Hosptialists.

Robert has even practiced as first responder Paramedic with EMT-B and EMT-P certification from Los Angeles Medical College.

As a Southern California native, he resides in Irvine, California with his with wife, daughter and twin sons. Robert’s other 3 adult children are currently active in the healthcare industry. He enjoys most everything outdoors and can be found biking, kayaking and horseback riding on the weekends.

Vice President Information Technology and Chief Security Officer

Anthony Brown, CCP

Tony came to Brault in 2016 following a 25-year career with a large emergency physician billing company. His sphere of responsibility at the company encompasses the entire information technology stack and security for the organization.

Having started in the information technology profession in 1979, he has a wide range of computing platform and major vertical market business experience. Tony is a recognized Certified Computing Professional (CCP) by the Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) specifically in the areas of systems development and IT management. He contributes thought articles to the industry and speaks on the importance of team building, customer service, and business enablement through information technology at every opportunity. Additionally, he is an active member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals, having served in varying leadership roles at the local and national levels.

Tony received a degree from Delta College in Data Processing and graduated magna cum laude from Northwood University with his Bachelor degree in Computer Information Management. He currently lives in Michigan with his wife, Kathi, and their two pets, where he values time dedicated to family, community, and occasionally fishing. He currently serves as chairperson of the township Board of Review and is a member of the curriculum advisory committee for Northwood University.

Patrick Satterfield

Patrick joined Brault in 2016 and is a consummate sales professional with nearly 30-years of experience helping healthcare companies grow. He is an expert at selling medical coding and billing services, practice management, and population health applications with a concentration in the emergency medicine and acute care markets. Patrick’s breadth of responsibilities at Brault include: new business development, customer relations and retention, marketing and trade show planning, and exhibiting.

Prior to Brault, Pat held executive sales positions with DST Health Solutions, Computer Sciences Corporation, and Nichols Research Corporation. Additionally, Pat has a long history of involvement with the Emergency Department Practice Management Association, the Hospital Financial Management Association, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Patrick is a University of Alabama alumni and lives in Birmingham with his spouse, Susan and daughters, Elizabeth and Brooke. He enjoys most things outdoors including golfing and hiking. He is a long time runner participating in over a dozen marathons and one ultra-marathon.

General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

Sepand Akhavanhaidary

Sepand joined Brault in 2017 after nearly 10-years with a national hospital system overseeing and managing each facility’s risk management department. Adept in HIPAA compliance he has particular expertise in Knox Keene Act, Anti-Kickback laws, and Stark violations, and is accomplished in healthcare reimbursement litigation, including contract disputes with insurance plans; underpayment matters; and reasonable and customary rate issues.

Sepand’s skill in rendering legal counsel in relation to federal and state regulations including fraud and abuse, HIPPA, Medi-Cal and Medicare are all core aspects of his role at Brault.

Sepand belongs to California Society of Health Care Attorneys, Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management, Orange County Bar Association and Iranian American Lawyers Association.

He holds a law degree from Whittier College School of Law and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from University of California Los Angeles.

Sepand lives in Laguna Hills, California and enjoys spending time with his children: Connie, Nicole, Neekon and Darion.
